Major Developments from Islamabad High Court
The fruits of Islamabad High Court’s full court meeting have begun to emerge, as the first institution responds!
In response to baseless social media campaigns against Justice Babar Sattar, Islamabad High Court issued a statement, signaling an end to the character assassination on social platforms.
The speculation regarding Justice Babar Sattar’s American citizenship was refuted by Islamabad High Court, clarifying that he holds no citizenship other than Pakistani.
Allegations contrary to facts have been leveled against Justice Babar Sattar, with details of his properties and tax returns being posted online, as stated in the release.
Furthermore, it was clarified that Justice Babar Sattar has never presided over a case benefiting any family member, dispelling another propaganda in the High Court’s statement.
During the hearing, Attorney General remarked that they would present evidence after listening to Ms. Bushra Bibi’s lawyer, indicating thorough examination of the matter.
Justice Babar Sattar’s objection to various petitions during the hearing sparked intense remarks from him, questioning the relevance of these to his role and responsibilities.
In a significant move, Justice Babar Sattar dismissed separate requests amounting to five lakh rupees fines against the Federal Investigation Agency, PEMRA, and PTI in the Audilex case.
It was noted that Islamabad High Court has instructed to consider initiating contempt of court proceedings against the DG FIA for filing such frivolous applications.
Additionally, Justice Babar Sattar imposed a fine of five lakh rupees in the PEMRA Audilex case, showing a firm stance against unnecessary litigation.
Moreover, Justice Babar Sattar imposed a similar fine in the PTI case, emphasizing the need to streamline litigation and prevent misuse of judicial time.
Extraordinary remarks during the hearing suggested that transferring cases to other courts through separate requests aims to embarrass judicial proceedings, seeking clarity on such actions.
Lastly, former Attorney General Islamabad, Jahangir Khan Jadoon, advocated for the imposition of penalties against officers lodging frivolous requests, emphasizing the need to end such practices.
