The Punjab government has filed a reference against Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Malik Ejaz Asif Awan.
It is the same Punjab government who supported him in his appointment & now they have filed a reference against him.
The Punjab Government Prosecution has shown no confidence in Judge Malik Ejaz Asif of the Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi under the Lahore High Court hearing the cases on May 9.
Prosecutors have argued that “anti-terrorism court judges remain part of the Pindi Bar, which gives relief to lawyers, to be barred from hearing all May 9 tragedy cases”.
The hearing of the May 9 tragedy cases on April 17 adjourned without action.
Judge Malik Asif Ejaz of the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court rejected the request of the Punjab government not to hear the case based on the reference and said that the Punjab government tried to stop the hearing of the important case based on the unnecessary reference based on malice.
All the accused were ordered to appear at the next hearing, arguments were called, and acquittal will be decided at the next hearing.
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Malik Ejaz Asif granted bail to Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in 12 cases of Rawalpindi on May 9 during a hearing in Adiala Jail, besides Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and other people of Tehreek-e-Insaf. They have also given bail in several cases.
