Twist in the Civilian Trails in Military Courts

The bench tasked with hearing objections against declaring military courts as invalid during today’s session faced disruption, prompting the submission and subsequent approval of related petitions.

During the proceedings regarding objections to declaring military courts invalid, the Supreme Court requested transcripts of decisions from military courts.

The inter-court appeals concerning the declaration of military courts as invalid were scheduled for April 24th, under the leadership of Justice Aminuddin Khan, a six-member bench was set to hear the case. However, a new development emerged when former Chief Justice Jawad S. Khawaja requested the formation of a nine-member larger bench, prompting the six-member bench to refer the case to the Bench Formation Committee of Military Courts.

The six-member bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin, included Justice Mazhar Ali, Justice Hassan Rizvi, Justice Shahid Wahid, Justice Irfan Saadat, and Justice Masroor Hilali.

The Committee tasked with considering inter-court appeals regarding the declaration of military courts as invalid includes Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, and Justice Manzoor Akhtar.

Following the bench’s disruption and the referral to the committee, PTI leaders Rauf Hassan, Abuzar Salman Niazi, and Ali Ajaz Butter held a significant press conference in Islamabad with the detained individuals’ families under military custody.

However, with today’s developments, the proceedings for Swellendz have become protracted, requiring further patience from those involved.Civilian Trails in Military Courts
